Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
