The second-hand marketplace Members Share Anger About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
